I completely encourage Muslim parents including myself  to try their best to make sure their sons and daughters are well raised as Muslims. Listening to a few parents speak  ( not many) , it seems to me that they feel when they tell their children to do any form of ibadah- it is as if they are forcing their children , on the long run the young men or women may find Islam to be a burden.

That is total ignorant- lack of understanding. Parents will be questioned for their children therefore a parent should use hikma to upbring their children islamically. Do keep in mind the parents should be a good role model. You can't expect to bring up an Abu bakr or an Aisha and you yourself is not praticing Islam.
